Art Threat
In a media landscape saturated with bubblegum pop and reality TV, art that seeks social change can be lost in the noise. Forced to the margins by the commercial culture industry, political artists often struggle to find exposure. In response to this stifling situation, Art Threat was born.
Art Threat is a magazine of political art. We embrace art that threatens the status quo, challenging the conventional wisdom with progressive ideas. By highlighting political artists and their work, Art Threat supports the creation of critical culture and inspires people to act.
Published online bimonthly and in print twice a year, Art Threat looks at art across the spectrum. We cover music, photography, cinema, painting, literature, architecture and everything in between and beyond. Art Threat also explores pressing issues affecting art and culture, stimulating debate on the world around us and how it is interpreted. Based in Montreal, Canada and created by an international team of writers and artists, Art Threat offers articles and commentary, interviews and reviews, commentary, media galleries, and other dynamic features. Between issues, a daily blog will keep readers informed of new developments in political art.
If you are interested in volunteering or contributing to Art Threat, or know an artist we should be aware of, please contact the editor at editor AT artthreat DOT net.
