To Whom it May Concern,

I am concerned about the use of trucks solely for the purpose of advertising. Ad trucks are a cause of atmospheric pollution, visual pollution and a nuisance to drivers and pedestrians in the downtown core of Montreal. The city of Montreal has committed itself to the protection of the atmosphere from pollutants and has committed to reduce the amount of traffic through the application of the Charter of Rights and Responsibilities.

I therefore request the city of Montreal and its boroughs to stop the circulation of ad trucks by rewriting by-law 531 (Ville Marie) or 498 (Plateau Montreal) to be more specific. We would like this by-law to read, "No vehicle may circulate the streets of Montreal solely for the purposes of advertising”. We also request that the city increase the fines for violators of this by-law. If the laws are contested, we would like to city pursue this matter and not back down. We are concerned about the impact these vehicles have on the state of our air quality and would like action to stop this practice.

Thank-you.
